Noticed that this is the only episode of Season 3 that has yet to draw a comment so I thought I would add one.
This is a middling episode for me. More or less the ultimate loss of identity situation. My interest stems from seeing Richard Long in "The Big Valley". Felt he was a very good actor who always turned in solid perfomances. Also remember him from a short-lived series called "Nanny and the Professor".

Very solid episode: believable dialogue, strong lead performance, strong supporting performances, great ending (really not the end, of course), just always been one of my favorites. I'll probably have more to add down the road...

Wow I missed this one as well. "8" for all the reasons mentioned.

Crown, aren't you the one who brings up the nonchalance of the poor soul who didn't get the loan at the bank and then Gurney jumping out the window like he does it all the time?? Funny stuff whether it is meant to be or not.

Wow, Jayo, I seriously didn't know that. I think I remember most of the other ones you can't stand, but I either didn't know about this one or I forgot. Tell us more! (Pleeeeeeease...)

Well, if you can't remember it well enough to know why you don't like it, may I suggest that it might be a good time to watch it again? Who knows, you may rate it up there with "The Passersby" next time! biggrin.gif

how about the nonchalance of the doctor, when after david calls and speaks to mrs gurney and becomes hysterical with her, the doctor just takes the phone and says something like 'sorry, goodbye' and hangs up.

love this episode.. love the "what's going on?' feel and the look on dave's face at the end of the episode..classic.

They're both 9s IMO. I think I like "A World of Difference" slightly better but it's a photo finish. I've always liked Howard Duff and AWOD is his only appearance.

A long time favorite of mine. As Mr. Z says, all of the ones dealing with identity intrigue me for some reason. I'm a big fan of Philip Dick's work; this one reminds me vaguely of "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said/"

This was always one of my favorite 'twists'. What a really cruel nightmare, although I suppose it's not really that bad once you think about it. (After all, he could just start over with a new life!)

I love the final narration about how Gurney is still trying to 'figure it out' at the end. biggrin.gif

I just saw this one on DVD. I gave it a 7. I sometimes catch the silliest things. Richard Long takes a phone book to try to prove that his name David Gurney is listed in the phone book. He turns to what looks like page 12 or so to try to find his name. Shouldn't that still be in the A's? G names should start around page 90 or later. But I did enjoy the episode none the less.

This episode is awesome. I give it a 10. I have only seen it twice, but it's a great story. I mean, it's also not THAT far off of a idea...I've heard of people waking up and not remembering ANYTHING. In this episode it is EVERYONE not remembering anything about the main character. But I've heard of people individually having total memory black out, so to say, of everything they remembered about everything. It's pretty strange. Memory is something I think far too many of us just take for granted, but it's so important! unsure.gif ohmy.gif

Average for me. Pretty predictable ending and I'm always annoyed by the "it was all a dream" ending, though I love The Midnight Sun.

Yes, it's always amusing when someone dives through a window biggrin.gif

I don't think the nightmare was over as evidenced by the look of fright on his face at the end. I would compare this more to A World Of Difference, where the main character finds out that his life isn't what he thinks/thought it was ohmy.gif

Yeah not only the look on his face but the fact that his wife had a different face! I'm with the Beem on this one, Mr. Gurney's nightmare is just beginning. I think this is the twist that doesn't make this just another dream rip-off.

That reminds me of how TV Guide spoiled the premiere for me. Back then it was usual to print partial cast lists, and included were credits for "First Wilma" and "Second Wilma," thereby giving me a strong indication of how the episode would end. TV Guide also had an annoying habit of mentioning that certain people had cameos (I'm not referring to TZ here), even when a cameo was done for humorous purposes which would be ruined if the viewer knew it in advance.

LOL biggrin.gif I've seen these spoiler listings too. I always read them after I've watched the episode now, but I've made similar mistakes too, in particular in the beginning when I had many unseen episodes to watch and wanted to choose what episode to watch next
