Love it, love it! "9" Yes, who am I? Delusions. That's it! Some sort of delusions. unsure.gif

And love the way they have the Ladies restroom sign partially hidden to read "dies."

Yes, a wonderful air of oppressive mystery hangs over this episode. It keeps you rivited to the set the whole way through. One of the most psycholgical of the episodes with excellent characters and score. This would be a perfect episode with which to introduce a first time watcher to the Zone. Has all the elements that made the series great. A shoo-in top 10 for me.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I think Vera Miles is a cold fish. It's basically because of my aversion to her, probably, that I find the first half of this anything but riveting. Not a bad episode, but possibly my least favorite of Season 1. I had to turn this off in the middle last time because of lack of interest. I'll watch it again before I rate it, but right now I'm thinking "5."

Note a beautiful piece of direction on John Brahm's part. In one continuous shot, we see Paul put down his briefcase, take a drink of water so that his head blocks the briefcase, and look up to see that it has disappeared. This could be easily accomplished by removing the briefcase through a trap door, but it's still a lovely illusion.

Mr. B, what if they got a different lead for Millicent Barnes ( ex. Anne Francis ), do you think your opinion of this episode would change ?

Anne Francis--now you're talking. biggrin.gif The last time I saw Psycho, I couldn't help but think that Janet Leigh would have been excellent in that role, too. (She even has a scene at the used car lot where she is in a bathroom in front of a mirror.) It's my understanding that Leigh was probably too big a star at that time to have appeared on a "Twilight Zone", however. Wait, let me check her other credits . . . well, it's clear that she wasn't doing much TV at the time, in any case. Leigh appeared in six movies that were released during TZ's original run, but the only television appearances she made during that time were on game shows and one "Andy Williams Show."

Things must have changed by 1989. She finally entered the TZ by starring in the first-run syndication episode "Rendezvous in a Dark Place."

This is a creepy story. Its very claustrophobic, and you really feel for the main character (Vera Myles). She seems very sweet and attractive so when things start to go south, we feel awful for her. It is a lot of fun seeing her get freaked out by her suitcase and when she sees herself sitting on a bench at the bus stop. The ending is a neat surprise and I like the fact that there is no justification for what happens. The "mirror image" just exists to torment the characters.

Welcome to the board whitsbrain! Hope you enjoy your stay. I like your avatar...from The Sixth Finger (of The Outer Limits original series). It was one of the few episodes I've seen, and I rather enjoyed it.

Welcome to the asylum, Whit! smile.gif

Your avatar fooled me--I thought it was one of the Talosians from the first Star Trek pilot, The Cage (later remade into the two-part episode, The Menagerie). Oops. blink.gif

Again, thanks for the welcome. I've always liked the Outer Limits. Seeing replays of it when I was a kid sometimes scared the crap out of me. It's not at the same level as the Twilight Zone, but it had it's moments. I recently watched all 48 episodes of The Outer Limits over the course of a couple of months. It was a lot of fun, but they aren't as well written as the Zone.

Most of the TOL episodes are pretty strange. No twist or surprise endings like the Zone, though.

another good episode..
i love the old ticket agent.. he has great lines.. 'when not in use- turn off the juice'. also liked how he had no patience with poor millicent.

another thing i don't remember noticing before is when the police come to take millicent away, she gives paul a nasty look right before she is put into the car. she turns and practically stares him down. i didn't think she had that in her after what she went through.

You would have loved the old "Dark Shadows" series which liked to deal with this theme. (It saved them staff, too, by being able to re-cast the same performers in new roles).

10! This story so freaked me out as a child. To this day I don't believe I've ever been in a bus-station and think of this episode often in airport terminals.

Reminds me of that old saying...something like if you stand in Times Square long enough, you'll see your double.

I think Vera Miles is really good in this ep. That look on her face, when she's sitting there trying to figure out what the hell is going on, is positively priceless. Very chilling and creepy. However, I always laugh out loud when Martin Milner is chasing himself down the street! I just can't help it.

Sorry, IM - let me repeat, I have never been in a bus station, rain or shine - day or night. Driven past many Grayhound & Trailways buildings and have dropped people off at them, but have never went inside.
Closest is probabally Union Train Station in Los Angeles when I was 10. Old, marble lined with mosaics, wooden benches, very 1930's style. It was raining and they had the black plastic seats with TVs built into the arm. 25 cents for 15 minutes. I remember watching the last 5 minutes of Beverly Hillbillies and then the first 10 minutes of Little Girl Lost. The whole time Mirror Image kept running through my head. Hence, I didn't let go of my bag or use the restroom until I was on the train biggrin.gif

Not bad, but the ending was weak. Milner chasing himself seemed a little goofy.
Martin Milner does the audio commentary for this episode on the TZ DVD. He Kind of rambles on and on at the beginning, because he doesn' appear in the episode until halfway through.

The Sci-Fi Channel ran the entire Dark Shadows series several times but I don't think they are airing it now. The parallel time/time travel episodes were later in the series.

Which brings up a question: Were any DS performers in a TZ episode other than Roger Davis ("Spur Of The Moment")?
