Just posting to see what people think of this:

CAST YOUR VOTE FOR MY SON
Hello,

I would like you to know that my son, Brandon, has made it into the semi finals for a song writing competition. You may have helped him get there with your votes from the initial competition a couple of months ago. If this is the case, on behalf of Brandon, thank you very much.

We are now making everyone aware that the semi finals are underway and we are asking for your support once again.

All you need to do is go to Donny.com and on the top left you'll see "Vote for Brandon". Click on that and you will be taken to the voting page. Please keep in mind that they will only count 1 vote per day, per computer. The winner will be announced on March 19th at a live performance in Provo, Utah.

It would mean the world to him to win this competition and with your help, he has a great chance to do so. Besides, I think it's a beautiful song and I'm very proud of him for a wonderful performance.

Thank you for your vote. I can always count on the donny.commers!

Donny

P.S. Tell a friend!

That was my first thought. And, yes, I checked his website. This doesn't seem to be sent out as a joke.

Another Osmond nephew (David son of Alan) made the Hollywood cut for American Idol, but I haven't seen him since. The name apparently didn't help him in this case.

Just the same, I think we all ought to log onto the website once a day as long as the contest is running and vote for a different contestant each time, so everyone BESIDES Brandon will get some votes.

BRANDON MADE IT TO THE FINALS!
Hello,
On behalf of my son, thank you all very much for your votes. It's not over though. This is the final week of voting and we are asking for your continued support.

Please go to Donny.com and on the top left you'll see "Vote for Brandon". Click on the link and cast your final votes every day until March 10th (Tuesday of next week) and help Brandon win this competition.

This is getting really exciting now! I want to thank all of the Donny.commers for your help.

Sincerely,

Donny

We should be ashamed for letting this happen. dry.gif

Brandon won the song writing contest!
Dear Donny.commers,
I can't thank you enough for all the votes you cast for my son Brandon's entry in the MormonTimes.com song writing contest! I will do my best to put a video clip of it on the new Donny.com site, which, I'm happy to say, is getting very close to launching. It's going to be great!

Once again, on behalf of Debbie and myself as well as all of our children, thank you for helping to make Brandon's song writing contest a wonderful success. He and his wife, Shelby couldn't be happier.

Sincerely,

Donny

Why? I didn't let this happen and I doubt anyone here did either.

Little Brandon will have to live with the knowledge that however far he goes in this life is probably the result of daddy or some other relative pushing him.

I wanted to launch a campaign of taking turns voting for all the other contestants but was too lazy to visit the website. Apparently, so was everyone else. sad.gif

No one seems outraged by this. It just sort of seemed like cheating to me.

I think you have to stop thinking any of these reality like shows are real and you won't be bothered by results such as this as much.

I was, too. sad.gif I agree it would have been a good idea.

I have to disagree that any parent would have done this. For one thing, wouldn't it be better for Brandon to win this contest purely on his own merits, and to have the satisfaction that comes from knowing he did it all on his own? That's what I'd want for my kid, if I had one.

Did the Nobel Peace Prize Committee use the same method for Obama that worked for Brandon Osmond? Just asking!
