I, on the other hand, thought it was pretty decent, especially for a Season 5 episode.

Officer Corey, Certified Psycho was the unofficial president of the "Queen Of The Nile"-Haters Club in days of yore. I wonder if he knows where we are?

Herrick's death sequence isn't quite what Walter Jameson's was, but it's still pretty convincing.

Ann Blythe gives a little account on TCM of her time with Joan Crawford while filming Mildred Pierce together. This is an excellent film for those of you who like film noir. It is showing tomorrow, Thurs. Nov 3 03:45P Eastern on Turner Classic Movies. Look for our favorite used car salesman Jack Carson as well.

Does anyone have a clip of Ann from that thing? It would be great to see what she looks like! How did she look for 77?

I really like this one! That scenario always fascinates me, and I know I'm going to hame Tomatoes thrown at me, but I like this more than Walter Jameson (ducks and runs away). I find her to be much more frightening and mysterious than Walter, even though I really like LLWJ biggrin.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I wonder if Walter and Pamela ever met up during those years? laugh.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Oddly enough, she looks exactly the same... ph34r.gif

No seriously, Dale, she doesn't appear there as a 77-year-old, sorry. We only hear her voice narrating. They do include clips of her from Mildred Pierce. (Doggone, forgot to watch it today. mad.gif)

You crack me up Beev. Yes she looks the same as she did in QOTN!!!

No, we don't see her, but she still has that velvety voice. She was a little buttmunch in "Mildred Pierce.' Joan Crawford won an academy award for her role.

I've wondered the same thing, and also whether they could have met with another Walter: Mr. Bedeker, had he not screwed up that immortality contract. Mabye 500 years from now, we see them walking amongst the "Time Enough at Last" ruins, fighting off the cockroaches for food, and not particularly pleasant with each other.

Walter could still get away with it. He's not in the lime light - just my opinion.
Ah, the good old days of Hollywood contract players when the studios had control of the paparazzi. Yep, no way she could get away with it today. She'd have to grab the homeless and street people. Hey wait ... don't 20,000 people a year disappear without a trace unsure.gif
I was always attracted to this episode. Keep having flashbacks of Liz Taylor's Cleopatra whenever I watch this.

Caught this today while a little hungover........ ph34r.gif

Although I had seen people trash this ep somewhere else on the net a good while back, I kinda liked it.
Sure, it had a rip-off from LLWJ but still a good little haunting episode if you ask me.
I also liked the Egyptian type artifacts sprinkled all over the set on this one. Helps to set the mood/stage alot and I thought it was a neat touch.
The spooky black "statue" in the garden or whatever in the beginning was the coolest.
Even though the ending was relatively predictable, I liked it.
Blyth plays the hollywood "starlet/actress" well IMO.

P.S. I think the "mother/daughter" was just jealous because Pamela was going out with all the young guys. laugh.gif
Above average 6 from me and I tend to think its a fair bit underrated.

Thank you and good night.

More seriously, we learn something happened between Pamela and Viola's husband, but Viola stops short of giving details. We suspect Mr. Draper suffered the same fate as Jordan, but there might instead -- or more likely in addition -- have been a torrid affair.

The statue is the Goddess: Bast. Represented by a Cats head and cat statues in general. Daughter of Ra and best know goddess besides Isis. Originally started out as a sun goddess - then the greeks came and she became a moon goddess.
She watched over women, family, and if offended, was closely associated with an avenging wrath.
Seems really appropriate for this episode. biggrin.gif

I gave this episode an 8. One of the simple, fun, creepy stories of the Zone. No platitudes, no messages, just a nice little story. The decomposing scene at the end is how the Long Live Walter Jameson scene SHOULD have been done. It blows that scene out of the water.

reasonably decent ep, sorta anti climatic once you know the truth mid way. You have to wonder why no one guessed what she was up to by now, no investigations, etc, anyway I can't rewrite history but can give it a 6 for acting.

Yeah, not one of the most plausible episodes of the series, is it? Can anyone think of ways to make it seem more plausible? I'm not sure it's worth the time, but it might be.

This is the first episode of Season Five that I've rated as "Poor". It's just boring and it's a shallow remake of "Long Live Walter Jameson", right down to the man who turns to dust. There's not much to like here.

I gave it a "2".

I liked this episode, but a few things bothered me: Why hadn't more people noticed she's been around a while? And what about all the people she killed off--weren't they ever linked to her?

There's something about this episode--I think it's the feel of the episode combined with good acting--that made me like it, though.
